Chris' 2003 SVT Cobra
When Chris first delivered his car to us, the plan was to build a turbo setup around the 4-valve 4.6L in his 2003 SVT Cobra, and to add all the supporting suspension and drivetrain modifications so that he could reach the E.T. goals he set for himself. We set out to make sure that this Terminator was no dyno-queen.
Engine: Stock 4.6L 4V V8
Management: Stock Fuel System: Stock Transmission: TH400 w/Bradco Converter, Ultrabell Bellhousing and Flexplate Turbo: Precision PT76GTS Wastegate: Tial 44mm wastegate Blow Off Valve: Tial 44mm blow off valve Intercooler: Custom fast Track Performance 4.5'' thick intercooler Stage 1 Stage 1 is the first round of modifications done to the car, all of which were preformed over a couple months. When the results were final, the car made the 664rwhp at 16psi on pump gas. Then it made 789rwhp on 19 psi (in the dynograph at the bottom) on c16. No track times were attempted with the stock 6-speed in the car. We added the TH400 for strength, reliability, and most importantly, ET at the track! We also added the Methanol kit so we could turn up the power for everyday driving. Under-side of the Turbo KitHere are some pictures of the under-side of the turbo kit while in fabrication. We added a 3 inch electronic cutout after these pictures were taken, and right before the final welding and coating. Finished PicturesThis is the way Chris' engine bay looks to this day. Most of the engine is either powdercoated, ceramic coated, or polished. The last shot is showing the black and red combo interior the 10th anniversary Cobras can come with, as well as the 6-point cage that now needs to be updated. The 6-point is only good to 6.39 in the 1/8 mile, and 9.99 in the 1/4 mile. Burnout ActionA couple pictures of Chris leaving some rubber on a back-road.
789RWHP/717RWTQChris' Cobra made these numbers on the stock T-56 transmission. Here's the graph:Here are a couple of track videos. The first video is from a local track where Chris was making his first shake-down runs with the new setup. The second video was taken a couple weeks after the first video, and was at a rented track event. During the event, the scoreboards were not displaying E.T.s or trap speed so we've provided the timeslip details below the first video. Lastly, Chris has made all of his track passes on the Cobra's stock longblock. 60': 1.499 660': 6.12 @ 117.23 1320': 9.47 @ 147.68 This is video from our most recent track rental on 12-13-08. Only changes from the above video was 1 psi, slicks, and rear suspension changes. We believe this is the fastest full weight 03 Mustang Cobra in the country. 60': 1.34 660': 5.96 @ 118 1320': 9.26 @ 150 |
